A small practice goal

Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Make the next step deliberately.

What you need to achieve

Guess the five-letter answer in six attempts. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. The example below illustrates a decision.

The steps to play

  1. Enter five letters.
  2. Green marks the correct position; gold marks an available copy elsewhere.
  3. Grey means no matching unused copy.
  4. Use the feedback to solve.

Making selections and moves

Type a guess and press Check guess or Enter. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. A new-round button replaces the current round.

Follow the example

An answer containing one E can award only one positive E mark in a guess containing two. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Keep the controls nearby.

Pay attention to this rule

Repeated letters do not imply unlimited copies in the answer. Check the rule before repeating the action. Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow.
